Senior Engineer, Access/DOCSIS

The Senior Engineer, Access/DOCSIS will be responsible for leading the deployment of new products on the DOCSIS network, this includes but is not limited to the testing and validation of new features/products, process establishment for new features/products and training on any new features/products.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

* Validate in Lab and field testing any new DOCSIS feature/tool/product
* Create and maintain documentation on DOCSIS features, tools and products
* Assist in the creation and maintaining of a DOCSIS training program
* Responsible training of internal teams on DOCSIS features, tools and products
* Work as Global Lead on designated DOCSIS projects
* Provide direct mentoring for DOCSIS team members in relation to products and processes
* Participate in training as required
* Develop and perform disaster recovery processes
* Demonstrate/practice current policies and procedures that touch internal and external customers
* Work closely with other WOW! teams such as Network Engineering and local market Head-end personal
* Provide on-going Tier 3 support
* Monitor CMTS performance and bandwidth utilization, work closely with each system to create and execute upgrade plans in advance of customer impact
* Maintain external security of CMTS platform by utilizing tools and features to protect WOW! from unauthorized CMTS access

* Associates degree in a related field or equivalent in training and job experience
* Must be highly organized, flexible, detail oriented, and able to handle multiple tasks under pressure
* Occasional travel may be required depending upon needs of the company
* Solid knowledge of IP network sub-netting required
* Knowledge of RF-related electronics and transports
* Solid knowledge of OSPF, RIP and BGP routing protocols required
* Knowledge of MPLS
* Solid Knowledge of VoIP
* Extensive knowledge of DOCSIS specifications
* Must have the ability to read and understand engineering prints as they pertain to Head-end facilities and Hub sites
* Gathering requirements, documenting, design, implementation of changes associated with managed sites, testing and providing on-going Tier 3 support
* Shell scripting knowledge
* Develop clear and concise documentation and make presentations as needed
* Monitor CMTS security to protect against external and internal attacks
* Assist with related training events as needed
* Ability to lead small groups of individuals
