Job Description

Summary:


This position will be responsible for provisioning Complex Voice and Data Networking products. Provision Ethernet, ELINE, ELAN, Internet Access, Hosted Voice, VoIP, and SIP Voice products to engineering standards.



Duties & Responsibilities:


Essential duties and responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:



  • Support day-to-day tasks of business, Internal Management Networks

  • Develop and evaluate processes to ensure effectiveness of IP design deployment

  • Assign and configure Customer and Network facing IP addresses

  • Involvement with developing and/or evaluating applications or tools in support of automation and administrative support

  • Configuration / reconfigure routers and CPE equipment

  • Assist with technical questions/resolutions from other WOW! colleagues

  • Coordinate own responsibilities with those of other team members so no order is delayed

  • Assess problems, research alternatives, and pursue acceptable solutions while remaining within Company guidelines

  • Complete complex and non-complex orders across the footprint



  • Continuously evolve data and voice provisioning skillset via individual and group training. Employees are required to take personal initiative to review training materials

  • Review and analyze service orders to provision switch translations for voice services by utilizing knowledge of voice switch translations in the Metaswitch switching platform to fulfill service orders

  • Responsible for building basic and complex voice translations in multiple voice service provisioning platform by having the ability to troubleshoot and isolate network problems that impact the turn up of network voice services

  • Use a general understanding of analog voice and VOIP telephony technologies



  • All other duties as assigned

Education:


Associates Degree or Equivalent work experience



Experience/Skills Needed:



  • Experience in following fields: OSI Layers 1, 2 and 3; provisioning, troubleshooting, design, planning, peering and deployment of Data/Voice Network devices and VOIP services with prior experience in the Telecom, ISP, LEC marketplace, with experience in provisioning and troubleshooting services across private and public networks

  • General routing and switching experience

  • Troubleshoot Data products with demonstrated technical proficiency including LAN/WAN, and Internet

  • General knowledge and proficiency voice switching platforms

  • Exceptional organizational skills and be able to multitask along with the ability to be focused, goal driven, and exhibit an obsessive attention to detail

  • Outstanding customer service and support in a professional manner and in accordance with company policies and standards

  • Must have the ability to make quick effective decisions that have a significant impact on WOW! Clients

  • Must be able to work under pressure, along with demonstrating solid time management skills, and demonstrate a winning attitude

  • Candidate should maintain exceptionally strong written and verbal communication skills



Computer Skills:


Proficiency with word processing and spreadsheet software, Internet software, and e-mail. Ability to learn new software systems and access online support/tools.
