Job Description


The position will help support WOW's Regional Area Networks, as well as the continued growth of its national backbone. This position is responsible for implementing and maintaining network routing policy for content caching and peering in an effort to support bandwidth across the national backbone.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Responsible for implementing and supporting WOW's Interconnect and Peering strategies

  • Responsible for working with internal groups and external implementation of the companies DIA/Peering and capacity management plans

  • Assists Capacity Planning team in proactive augmentations for backbone/transport links

  • Prepare written reports relevant to Peering initiatives

  • Contribute to the definition of operational and support requirements for Peering and CDN

  • Provide Peering and DIA escalation support for all Metro and Backbone network elements

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • High school degree or GED required

  • Associates degree strongly preferred


  • Must possess 3-5 years of solid TCP/IP experience including configuration of Juniper routers, firewalls and switches

  • Should be familiar with firewall security, policies, and design

  • Must be capable of configuring and implementing medium to large-scale networks using routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF

  • Knowledge of RF related electronics and transports preferred

  • A firm understanding of Ethernet, MPLS, VLANS, Tunnels and LAN design/configuration a plus

  • Experience with Juniper firewalls, switches and routers a plus

  • JNCIA/CCNA a plus
