The Network Engineer III's primary responsibilities are to assist with Engineering design review, Lab integration testing, Network documentation and Network deployment of the WOW! Network Infrastructure. The Network Engineer III will be the primary resource supporting change activity as it relates to the IP core backbone and the Infrastructure that supports the services delivered over it. What you'll be doing:

  • Review engineering design.

  • Install, configure and test in Integration Lab and develop standard implementation Method of Procedure (MOP).

  • Integration support of infrastructure required to deliver services.

  • Maintain build book of infrastructure and services being delivered across the WOW Network.

  • Execute handoff plan and knowledge transfer to NOC and Assurance Teams.

  • Monitor and manage scheduled maintenance work.

  • Escalation for troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing Network related impairments.

  • Prepare work package Documentation.

  • Open change request ticket.

  • Create system support documentation including instructional procedures, provisioning guidelines, test plans, problem documentation and functional process flows.

  • Participate in research pertaining to development of network systems and management tools.

  • Works closely with more senior engineers.

  • Plans projects or subtasks so they may be tracked and presented. Limited planning required outside of immediate or assigned task.

  • Contributes to milestones.

  • Works on many phases or sub-tasks of project or entire projects of all levels of complexity.

  • Results of work impact project completion.

  • Leading of technical staff and/or IP Implementation Engineer I and II.

What we're looking for:


  • BS required or equivalent work experience

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 8-10 years of work experience required (telecom industry preferred)

  • Able to give effective presentations to critical/high level customers and effectively represent work group on review panels and cross-organizational teams. Can write convincing proposals and reports with all necessary supporting material for external consumption.

  • Collaborates effectively and provide mentorship to peers and group.

  • Exercises substantial initiative/judgment in work methods and in interpreting goals.

  • Initiative demonstrated on moderate problem solving within assigned tasks.

  • Leads group of engineers and technicians, responsible for budget and manpower estimates.

  • Plans multiple projects simultaneously. Estimates, tracks & completes project on time and within budget.

  • Recognized throughout the lab and within the professional community in area of expertise for professional abilities and technical accomplishments.

  • Serves as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on multiple platforms and/or systems under specialty and with a detailed understanding of how multiple systems interact.

  • Works on multiple highly complex major projects requiring innovative, original solutions

  • Work is reviewed infrequently. Outcomes reviewed by organizational management/head.

  • Capable of configuring, designing and implementing medium to large-scale networks using routing protocols such as BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, and OSPF.

  • Detailed working knowledge of BGP, IS-IS, MPLS, MPLS VPN's (Layer 2, Layer 3, VPLS, etc.), Multicast, OSPF, and RSVP.

  • Experience with Cisco routers and switches is a plus.

  • Experience with Junos OS required.

  • Maintains an active JNCIA and/or CCNA and equivalent work experience. CCNP/JNCIS/JNCIP desired.

  • Possess advanced level TCP/IP experience including configuration of Juniper routers and switches.
