Job Description

Summary:


This is a leadership role responsible for managing the development and delivery of Integration software solutions for the Application Development team built on various technologies including but not limited to AWS Cloud Services, Nodejs, MS.Net, MSSQL, Oracle and Open Source RDMS and tools. The role entails managing a dedicated team of developers, working with both internal partners (Scrum masters, Architects, Agile members) and external partners or vendors. This individual will have hands on involvement in design, development and testing of new software projects in an Agile fashion, as well as responsibility for Tier 3 Systems Response and Continuous Improvements for Application Development production systems and interfaces.


Duties and Responsibilities:


Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:



  • Work with the product teams to plan and execute deliverables, ensuring that the teams have appropriate requirements, technical specifications, direction and resources to deliver solutions effectively with realistic estimates to meet business goals.

  • Manage development resources and execute on multiple projects simultaneously with distributed teams.

  • Work with Enterprise Architects in defining the product vision.

  • Help developers resolve technical problems as well as work with department heads to solve business related issues.

  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to optimum performance levels and career development.

  • Perform standard software development tasks associated with the design and development of new applications or maintenance of existing applications using Microsoft .NET and C# as well as new implementations of AWS Cloud.



  • Test and validate functionality within and between applications, which could include integration, performance, and/or systems testing.

  • Provide recommendations for improving processes and procedures, and function as an escalation point and/or training resource for development team.

  • Participate in application documentation, training and deployment efforts.



  • Maintain availability for after-hours production support on an as-needed basis.



  • Ensure applications meet design specifications, adhere to standard coding practices and function per the requirements specification.



  • Participate in selection of tools, technology platforms & technical evaluation of 3rd party vendor products.

  • Communicate with department management, Scrum masters, team members and business groups on issues and the status of work planned and completed.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of management leadership experience in a software development organization.

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of experience working through design, development, release, support and improvements cycle.

  • Proven experience building and managing highly available, critical systems and services.

  • Must be comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations. Keen attention to detail and complex problem solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective. Ability to work independently and engage manager as needed.

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.



  • Firm understanding of software development methodologies and object oriented principles.



  • Must be able to manage changes to requirements through effective application of change control processes and tools.

  • Ability to participate in peer reviews and inspections of requirements documents.

  • Strong leadership, project management, time management and problem solving skills.

  • Ability to work with technical and non-technical business owners to get things done.

  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills.


Education:



  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent certification or experience.


Experience/Skills Needed:



  • 10 years of application development and integration experience using .NET technologies

  • 5+ years of experience managing development teams

  • Proficiency with delivering Web Services RESTful, WCF/SOAP

  • Proficiency with Unit Testing, Test Driven Development and Continuous Delivery



  • Experience with RDBMS like SQL Server, Oracle, Postgres

  • Firm understanding of software development methodologies and object oriented principles



  • Experience with Cloud Solutions and Services Development (Preferred AWS)

  • HSD/Telecom/Cable industry knowledge a plus

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of management leadership experience in a software development organization
