Engineering Planning Manager



The Engineering Planning Manager role will include all aspects of coordination, planning, communication and delivery of technology solution designs through collaboration with all technology teams across WOW!


Duties and Responsibilities:


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following but are not limited to:


Technology Roadmap Planning and Delivery Management & Coordination



  • Works with PMO to funnels strategic initiatives through group-wide technology joint design review board for impact assessment, staffing and design review & approval

  • Liaises with Project Management (PMO) to communicate status of design review process

  • Works with PMO to determine prioritization and funding of new projects and allocation of resources to strategic initiatives

  • Provides resource capacity reporting identifying gaps against targets



Solution Planning & Schedule Management



  • Provides on-going analysis of progress against plan for internal technology efforts

  • Monitors measurements metrics for Operationally focused personal

  • Monitors and provides updates for all Engineering projects

  • Aligns internal resources against all projects assigned by PMO team


Customer Alignment



  • Work with team to setup / coordinate weekly, monthly and quarterly meetings across all areas of Engineering team

  • Manages weekly, monthly status updates, including Item tracking, coordination and communication across all customer groups

  • Assess new projects resulting from alignment meetings and funnel to PMO for prioritization


Budget Planning



  • Tracks all activities, benefits, costs related to technology upgrade, replacement and evolution efforts

  • Consolidates, prioritizes and shares plans for annual budget cycle

  • Manages the development and maintenance budgets for internal Engineering projects

  • Develops resource plans based on funding working to meet or exceed the Engineering teams targets (e.g., cost reduction)

  • Streamlines and improves the effectiveness of the planning/budgeting process

  • Coordinates the annual planning/scheduling sessions between Engineering and business units


Control Functions:



  • Proactively monitors and ensures deadlines met, status documented and issues resolved relative to all technology efforts, including, but not limited to:

    • Ensures no slippage

    • Ensures appropriate action taken to meet or exceed all target dates for technology efforts





Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS or related field of study or equivalent experience in IT / software development and/or program/ project management

  • 1 -- 3 years of Cable or telecom Industry experience

  • PMP designation is desired

  • Strong organizational and planning skills

  • Broad systems management experience

  • Ability to work effectively with the senior management teams

  • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency

  • Strong impact and influence skills required for dealing with senior IT management team

  • Strong understanding of IT planning and reporting concepts and specific policies and procedures

  • Basic awareness of relevant technology and related issues

  • Good business experience and judgment with general knowledge of factors affecting business
