Manager, Infrastructure Systems


The Manager, Infrastructure Systems will lead the technology team that supports and maintains the IT infrastructure at WOW. This position will work with multiple technical teams to plan, design and engineer WOW's IT infrastructure while driving best practices and implementing enterprise level procedures with a focus on operational excellence and continual improvement. This position will additionally be responsible for implementing, managing, maintaining, and supporting a 24 x 7 business operation.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Work with OSS staff and end-users to ensure that new technology implementation can be well supported with minimal interruption of service delivery

  • Manage vendor and contractor negotiations and contracted work in support of the implementation of new technology

  • Work closely with multiple internal IT Infrastructure teams and Enterprise Architecture team to design enterprise solutions, resolve issues and transfer knowledge

  • Build relationships with key user and operation groups to identify and resolve business issues in order to provide excellent customer and end user experience

  • Provide operational support of daily activities involving all aspects of infrastructure

  • Maintain proactive management and maintenance of the infrastructure to prevent service interruptions

  • Schedule and prioritize work to accommodate client needs while minimizing impact on operations

  • Other duties as assigned

  • B.S or M.S. in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience


Experience/Skills Needed:

  • Strong knowledge of virtualization, server, cloud, network and automation technologies, and experience managing the activities of both local and remote resources preferred

  • 5-8 years of experience with functional and technical aspects of IT support services and related solutions, capabilities and technologies

  • 5-8 years of experience with traditional datacenter technologies (Compute, Storage, Network, Virtualization, Cloud and Data Protection)

  • 3-5 years of experience with administering and introducing automation and orchestration technologies within an enterprise.

  • 5+ years of technical support work experience in a managerial role

  • Proven leadership experience in enterprise level technology

  • Ability to multitask and handle numerous assignments simultaneously

  • Interpersonal, negotiation, and problem solving skills

  • Ability to develop, motivate, and coach a team

  • Must be able to communicate effectively with a variety of audiences including the ability to deliver engaging, informative, well-organized presentations

  • Knowledge and experience with network operations center, ticketing systems and or similar service management tools preferred

  • Solid experience supporting a 24x7 operation

  • A proven technology innovator and a hands on problem solver


Computer Skills:


  • Experience with the Microsoft product suite including Active Directory, Exchange, SharePoint environments

  • Experience with the Vmware product suite (vsphere, vSAN, NSX, VMC on AWS etc.)

  • Experience managing Linux based and Windows Operations

  • Experience with AWS services is required.

  • Experience administering and introducing automation technologies such as Ansible is required.

  • Experience w/ data protection technologies (Backup/Archive) is required.

  • Strong understanding of TCP / IP, DNS, DHCP, routers, and switches
