Trainer -- Sales


The Trainer -- Sales is responsible for the delivery of training content, development of training material, coordination and facilitation of training events and initiatives in support of the sales function, across organizational sales channels. The Trainer -- Sales will also provide coaching to new hires to ensure optimum performance during training, and assess performance through training certifications.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Deliver content on topics which include sales process, products, services and soft skills training

  • Cross trains and provides training to other functional areas

    • Develops material for presentation in multiple formats including leader-led classroom, self-study, on-line/ZOOM delivery, and other means as required to meet the business needs

    • Coordinate and review materials with stakeholders to ensure consistent delivery and implementation of all company initiatives

    • Perform needs analysis, specifying content and format

    • Evaluate and measure post-training performance to refine and improve training content and format

    • Monitor and track delivered training, certification and testing

    • Proactively engage Supervisors/Managers/Directors in communication, and identify and act upon opportunities which will positively impact operations

    • Develop training measurements via quizzes and certifications

    • Review individual certifications to ascertain level of retention, ability to perform the assigned role and coach employees to the desired level of performance

    • Provide continuous coaching to representatives on all aspects of their performance, including critical skills needed to perform their role successfully

    • Communicates and interacts with operations to identify and determine opportunities with a positive impact

    • Act as Direct supervisor and oversee all representatives during training, carrying out all supervisory responsibilities in accordance with applicable policies and procedures

    • Provide direct feedback regarding trainee behavior to hiring managers, training manager and human resources, partnering to develop a course of action appropriate for the situation

    • Coordinate training efforts with outside consultants and developers and internal departments such as Call Center, Product, Marketing, HR/Recruiting, and IT

  • Partner with managers to determine training needs and schedule training sessions via calendar invites and through a learning management system (LMS)

  • Work with Training Manager, Content Developers, Account Management, Sales and others to create and manage a successful on-boarding program

  • Research and apply the latest teaching techniques and training technologies to deliver training

  • Other duties as assigned

  • HS diploma or equivalent required

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in education, communication, training, marketing preferred

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 2+ years' experience in training

  • Prior sales experience in the telecommunications industry is strongly preferred

  • Must have proven ability to creatively develop and deliver training materials

  • Proven ability to facilitate live training events and/or online webinars

  • Ability to manage multiple projects

  • Highly motivated with ability to work without direct supervision

  • Able to communicate and work proactively with internal and external customers

  • Organized with strong attention to details

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with proven ability to write a variety of communication pieces to provide information pertinent to training

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment where flexibility and teamwork are essential

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong relationships while maintaining professionalism

  • Comfortable facilitating training to various sized audiences (1--100+) both in-person and virtually

Computer Skills:

Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and basic understanding of accessing and utilizing web based applications.
