System Technician- FTTH- Lead
WOW is Hiring a System Technician- FTTH-Lead!
Summary
The Fiber to the Home System Technician Lead will install, set-up, test, maintain, service and repair all aspects of the Fiber to the Home network from the hub site and/or OTN cabinets to the passive network devices and provide day-to-day engineering and operations support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Include but are not limited to the following:
Assist in the planning, direction, training and evaluation of the Fiber to the Home System Techs Identify and report all incidents of non-compliance (FCC, NESC, OSHA and WOW standards) Assure system security by following company procedures Assessment, maintenance and repairs for hub site/OTN cabinet, outside FTTH distribution plant, and general plant components Maintain hub site/OTN hardware and powering needs and maintenance Test FTTH and PON components using: Volt-Ohm-Meter (VOM), OTDR, optical power meter, and compare findings with documentation Perform basic DC wiring from equipment to Telect panels Perform routine remote OLT setup and balancing, alignment and adjustment of passive components and equipment used to process signals from the OLT to any subscriber port and/or subscriber ONT Perform basic underground and aerial construction duties associated with PON (DWDM) operations such as replacement of defective/damaged optical splitters and subscriber ports Maintains, repairs and replaces optical components of the remote OLT Perform routine business subscriber connection duties such as running/hanging fiber drop and utilize handheld splicer to complete connections Performs and/or assists with emergency fiber restoration. Performs analysis of system performance reports and subsequent preventive and remedial activities Understand/apply FCC and NESC technical standards, including performing FCC required testing Perform networking related troubleshooting including SQC test, trace route and speed test Perform Power Supply and Rectifier installation, maintenance and repair and have a basic understanding of our Continuity PS status monitoring system Perform Field Ops-Engineering walkouts Perform QC and Safety Audits Other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Two to four years of experience and related associates degree or equivalent combination of experience.
Skills and Abilities to be Successful in this Role
- Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Knowledge of a broadband communication organization, administration, standards, regulations, and rules
- Able to use assigned test equipment including but not limited to fusion splicer, power light meter, volt ohm meter, underground locator and OTDR
- Able to accurately measure distances using tapes and other measuring devices
- Able to present technical information to a non-technical audience
- Able to work independently
- Able to prioritize and organize assignments and responsibilities
- Able to handle escalations and time-critical issues
- Always maintain professional appearance and behavior
- Maintain excellent attendance

- Overtime may be required
- Work evenings, weekends, and participate in an on-call rotation
- Must have a valid DOT certification, depending on state laws.
- Ability to drive Company vehicles in a safe manner
- Required to have a valid driver’s license and maintain a driving record that meets the standards of the insurance carrier
