Senior Accountant, Revenue

The Revenue Senior Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring the integrity of revenue accounting information by timely and accurately preparing various journal entries, analytics and account reconciliations used in the closing and reporting process.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Ensures that billing data and General Ledger data are aligned, and that all revenue is properly accounted for

  • Point person in accounting for all billing-related questions and mapping of billing codes to GL accounts

  • Assists in month-end Revenue, Bad Debt and A/R accounting close process for all entities, including an analysis of actuals to explain month-over-month variances

  • Interface with wholesale/business services group to ensure that accounting impacts of new contracts are in accordance with company policy and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles

  • Actively involved in the ongoing compliance of ASC606, including the ARM (advanced revenue module) in NetSuite; performs monthly analysis and journal entries related to deferred upfront fees and deferred commission costs

  • Completes the monthly bundled revenue allocation calculation and related journal entries

  • Analyzes the Company's bad debt on a monthly basis, calculates key metrics and determines trends in account write-offs to help estimate future expense

  • Completes, reviews and approves monthly balance sheet account reconciliations and roll-forwards of account balances as they relate to Revenue and Accounts Receivable

  • Assists in the preparation and approval of journal entries for accuracy

  • Provides guidance to internal and external auditors in review of accounting records

  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the department and throughout the company, and services the needs of both internal and external customers in a professional manner

  • Other duties as assigned

  • BS/BA in Accounting; 3+ years of work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Cable and/or telecommunications industry experience preferred

  • CPA preferred

  • Audit experience preferred

Computer Skills:

  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Excel, including the use of pivot tables and DSUM formulas

  • Experience with NetSuite preferred
