Sr. Director of Engineering Implementation


The Senior Director of Engineering Implementation will lead a team of Engineers in driving the success of WOW's implementation activities. This role will be directly responsible for leading the planning, testing, and deployment of new network projects leveraging unstoppable drive to reach win/win for the business.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:




  • Lead and manage a technical team of managers and engineers responsible for network deployment and support at multiple, existing and new locations

  • Responsible for all hiring, on-boarding, development and performance management of team

  • Translate corporate objectives into a strategic business plan and set the long-term strategy and objectives of the implementation engineering team

  • Build outstanding relationships and drive cross-functional collaboration with stakeholders, vendors, and partner teams reducing friction throughout the organization

  • Drive operational excellence through process, procedures, tooling, training and effective management of KPIs

  • Use dashboards and metrics to articulate problem areas and quickly identify areas for improvements

  • Establish and improve global deployment standards and best practices to drive consistency, quality and efficiency

  • Responsibility for quality deployment plans that have been lab tested

  • Responsible for Access, Core, Optical, Voice, Video, and IP Network projects

  • Forecast and execute regional Opex and Capex

Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in a technical or related field (Computer Science, Engineering or Telecommunications, etc.)



Experience/Skills Needed:




  • 10+ years of experience leading technical teams responsible for deploying and operating large-scale network infrastructure

  • Experience managing geographically distributed teams of managers and engineers

  • Experience with leadership development and developing and implementing organizational strategy

  • Experience with process improvement and automation to streamline repetitive workflows

  • Experience with managing network operations and maintenance activity in a 24x7 production environment

  • Experience delivering projects

  • Experience of Internet architecture, IP networking technologies (TCP/IP, IPv4/6, routing/switching protocols, MPLS) and large-scale network hardware platforms

  • Experience engaging, influencing, and leading peers, stakeholders and vendors

  • Experience working with managed service providers and contractors

  • Experience working in data centers and/or service provider networks preferred

  • Working knowledge of fiber-optic communications and cabling infrastructure preferred

  • Experience working in a multi-vendor network environment preferred



Computer Skills:




  • Must be skilled in Microsoft word, Excel, Power Point and other related desk top programs and be capable of working within other customized computer programs.
