Job Description

The Network Resource Engineer manages IP Administration and Capacity for the WOW! Network Infrastructure. The Network Resource Engineer supports implementing and maintaining network routing policy as it relates to both IP and Capacity management across WOW!.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Provides support of population and maintenance of IP database
  • Monitors IP allocation utilization and requests
  • Update site-specific documentation
  • Assist with preparation of work package Documentation
  • Assist with creation of IP system support documentation including instructional procedures, provisioning guidelines, test plans, problem documentation and functional process flows
  • Responsible for implementing and supporting WOW's Interconnect and Peering strategies
  • Responsible for working with internal and external groups on implementation of the organization’s DIA/Peering and capacity management plans
  • Assists in proactive augmentations for backbone/transport links
  • Prepare written reports relevant to Peering initiatives
  • Contribute to the definition of operational and support requirements for Peering and CDN
  • Provide Peering and DIA escalation support for all Metro and Backbone network elements
  • Some travel required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education:

  • BS in a related field required or equivalent work experience

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 3-5 years’ related work experience
  • Telecommunications experience industry preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills
  • Able to effectively learn and utilize internal applications
  • Able to read engineering drawings and understand process flow
  • Must be proficient with industry standard databases
  • Basic TCP/IP experience

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word)
  • Google Application Suite (i.e. Doc, Drive, Sheets)
  • Terminal Applications (i.e. SecureCRT, Putty, etc…)
  • Collaboration Applications (i.e. Lucid Chart, Slack, Zoom, etc…)
  • Service NOW Ticket Systems
  • IPAM Applications (Men & Mice, SolarWinds, etc…)
