Job Description

Responsible for managing and coordinating resources and processes needed to deliver business intelligence and complex reporting solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Work with reporting team and business analysts to plan and execute projects, ensuring that teams have appropriate requirements, technical specifications, direction and resources to deliver solutions effectively and timely

  • Establish realistic timelines while ensuring projects remain on target to meet deadlines.

  • Manage distributed teams and execute on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Help developers/analysts resolve technical problems as well as work with department heads to solve business related issues

  • Provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate and lead team members to optimum performance levels and career development

  • Work closely with senior management and multiple functional groups within the organization to examine and document business models and flows of data, objectives and requirements for complex reporting solutions

  • Develop queries and build new ad-hoc or standard reports or modify existing reports to extract complex datasets and metrics from multiple databases

  • Maintain data integrity and ongoing quality control of delivered reports through testing and validation to ensure they function per the requirements specification

  • Utilize Business Intelligence tools to build and support dashboards

  • Provide administration support for reporting platforms as well as upgrades to the platforms or to troubleshoot and resolve issues with the platforms

  • Communicate with senior management, stakeholders, project manager, team members and business groups on issues and the status of work planned and completed

  • Provide guidance to others by reviewing work and providing recommendations for design, coding or testing approach, which could include conducting or participating in code walkthroughs or other methods to ensure report quality

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification or related experience.

-Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 12+ years of data analytics experience building maintainable, standardized reports and dashboards including analyzing large data sets, data mining and providing consultation to stakeholders 

  • 12+ years of experience with SQL and/or Oracle to perform data manipulation and analysis using report writing tools (Crystal Reports / Business Objects, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), etc)

  • 5+ years of cable/telecommunication experience

  • Proficient developing and troubleshooting stored procedures and knowledge of query optimization techniques

  • Proficient with BI tools (Tableau, Jaspersoft, etc.) and building dashboards

  • Understanding of version control and change management processes

  • Experience with database administration tasks (creating/designing databases & tables, management of file groups, SQL Agent Jobs, etc.)

  • Experience with software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile)

  • Experience with AWS (Redshift and RDS) a big plus

  • Must be comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations 

  • Keen attention to detail and complex problem solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective

  • Ability to work independently and engage manager as needed

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to lead requirements analysis and verification

  • Must be able to perform detailed data analysis to determine the structure, content, and quality of the data and trends through examination of source systems and data samples

  • Ability to assess reporting results through data investigation, analysis, and evaluation and create documentation supporting all of the reports

  • Ability to participate in peer reviews

-Computer Skills:

Fundamental knowledge of standard desktop business applications and tools.
