Job Description

The Manager, Agile Program Management will lead a team of scrum master professionals in executing standardized agile project management practices across the Technology, Engineering and Network Operations organization. This scrum team will assist teams to self-organize, self-manage and deliver via Agile process and practices. This role will manage the coordination, planning, communication and delivery of technology solution designs through collaboration with all technology teams across WOW!

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Direct management of a team of Scrum Master professionals
  • Mentors and leads the organization in identifying and implementing state of the Agile development innovations from throughout the industry
  • Proactively monitors and ensures deadlines met, status documented and issues resolved relative to all technology efforts, including:
    • Ensures no slippage
    • Ensures appropriate action taken to meet or exceed all target dates for technology efforts
  • Manages status reporting of all assigned projects
  • Effectively manages implementation activities ensuring business objectives are successfully met
  • Promotes common understanding of project timelines, milestones, and reporting in order to align project stakeholders and team members 
  • Works with Product Owners, Scrum Masters & PMO to determine prioritization and funding of new projects and allocation of resources
  • Coordinates efforts across vendors and partners to assure alignment with product priorities and one another
  • Responsible for establishing, facilitating and maintaining Scrum ceremonies
  • Supports and educates Product Owners, especially on prioritization, grooming and maintaining the product backlog
  • Provides management of the team using a servant leadership style whenever possible, and leading by example
  • Facilitates discussion, decision making, and conflict resolution session with stakeholders
  • Guides the team to self-organizing using the Agile methodology 
  • Removes impediments for the team, this is done by finding the right personnel within the organization or properly escalating issues to management for resolution
  • Assists with communication, improves transparency, and disseminates information to the appropriate parties within the organization 
  • Champion development and adoption of processes and tools to enhance WOW technology evolution.
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

-Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in MIS, CS or related field of study or equivalent experience in software development and program/ project management is an asset
  • 5+ years of Cable or telecom Industry experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of Agile Software Development LifeCycle models such as Scrum, Kanban, etc. 
  • Experience with Agile planning tools such as JIRA or TFS a plus
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Agile Certified Practitioner (PMI-ACP) is preferred
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred

-Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 5+ years’ experience as a scrum master
  • Ability to manage direct reports
  • Project Management skills to ensure projects are identified, prioritized, scheduled, completed, and closed appropriately
  • Listening and Observational skills, to understand what people say and what they might be hesitant to say
  • Network and/or video systems support background experience to better assist the technical teams in developing scope, requirements, validation and rollout requirements
  • Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding, distinguish presented user requests from the underlying true needs, and distinguish solution ideas from requirements. 
  • Facilitation skills, to lead Scrum Ceremonies & other required meetings
  • Technical Writing skills, to communicate information effectively in written form
  • Organizational skills, to work with the vast array of information gathered during elicitation and analysis and to cope with rapidly changing information
  • Interpersonal skills, to resolve conflicts among project team and/or project stakeholders
  • Aptitude working with 3rd party vendors and partners to align priorities and expected outputs
  • Strong organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to work effectively with the senior management teams
  • High degree of initiative and sense of urgency
  • Strong impact and influence skills required for dealing with senior technical management team

-Computer Skills:

  • Expert level knowledge of Jira and workflow development
  • Experience with online collaboration software tools such as G Suite
