Engineer I-IT Security

The IT Security Engineer I position performs network security, vulnerability management, incident response, and identity management while ensuring the organization adheres to regulations and industry standard methodologies

What you will be doing:

  • You'll design, develop, and maintain incident response processes and procedures.

  • You'll performs Discovery and Vulnerability scans and facilitates remediation of these vulnerabilities by risk rating them and providing remediation recommendations and works with Project Delivery and Security to ensure that systems within the relevant security zones based on the data they house and their purpose

  • Assist with onboarding of log data and log parsing to our Data Intelligence platform (Splunk)

  • Assist in development of security use cases for our Data Intelligence platform that will provide high fidelity and low false positive rates

  • Assesses projects, including functional and detailed design specs to ensure security standards are met

  • You'll contribute to the development of WOW Enterprise Architecture and Security policies and procedure.

  • Identifies improvements to IT tools, standards, processes and workflows to reduce security vulnerabilities and increase efficiencies through automation

  • Aligns with all security policies and procedures to ensure the highest level of system and data confidentiality, integrity, and availability are maintained

  • Assist with development Automation and Orchestration with a focus on developing incident response automation workflows and actions

What we're looking for:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or a related field) or equivalent technical experience.

  • Preferred Certifications: SANS GIAC Certifications, Security+, RHCSA, LPIC or equivalent

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • Minimum one year previous experience in a professional work environment

  • Self-Starter with strong analytic and analytical skills

  • Ability to work a problem with little mentorship and document your approach to solving it.Familiarity with one more scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, Bash, Perl, ASP, JavaScript, etc.)Technical background and interest of security solutions and networking Interest in information security and technology trends

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changes within the enterprise and technological landscape.

  • Ability to establish relationships with business, IT peers and technology SME with effective verbal and written communication skills appropriate for both technical and non-technical audiences.
