Manager, IT Release Environments



The Manager, IT Release Environments manages and coordinates Pre-Production and Production deployments while ensuring the successful delivery of changes and releases from staging environments to pre-production environments and back to pre-production staging environments. This role will build processes and procedures in a greenfield environment.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:




  • Plan, coordinate, execute & complete all Production Release windows with minimal service disruption & any unplanned downtimes/service degradation

  • Coordinate and maintain deployment schedules for multiple environments

  • Manage schedule and capacity of environments to ensure release schedules can be met

  • Collaborate with functional owners and business owners to prioritize and deploy feature functionality while ensuring the integrity of existing solutions

  • Collaborate with the Quality Management function to determine the test automation needs and approach for deploying releases in a timely and efficient manner

  • Confirm all activities related to Planned / Unplanned Releases with appropriate stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery

  • Manage situations in the event escalation is required following changes or releases in Pre-Production / Production environments

  • Create, own, and ensure maintain any associated release or change documentation and processes

  • Provide the relevant management information relating to all changes and releases, including detailed trend analysis to show performance

  • Hold regular change and release performance reviews with business, product & delivery teams to discuss areas of success and areas of concern.

  • Completing the relevant minutes to track any actions and feedback

  • Define, document, and maintain full roles and responsibilities for Release Management function

  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs)

  • Facilitates emergency releases from production incident identification to incident closure after release

  • Responsible for change, release, and production environment management processes including integrated process design, optimization, and strategy

  • Indirectly lead a department in daily change and release management operations, including directing targeted areas of process improvements and executing on the technology strategy for the HR Technology & Information Strategy team

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:




  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experience



Experience/Skills Needed:




  • 5-7 years' experience in information technology, software engineering or product development equivalent work environment

  • 2 years' experience in Software Release Management -- Planning, Change Approval Processes, Knowledge of Quality Assurance / Management & Deployment Processes

  • Minimum 2 years supervisory or lead experience

  • Experience with Workday, Workday Adoption Center and Touchpoints Toolkit preferred

  • Experience in the program management, development, and/or testing of software Applications

  • Experience in working with diverse, multi-discipline teams that are both matrixed and geographically dispersed

  • Knowledge of scrum/agile development methodologies

  • Strong teamwork, collaboration, and adaptability skills

  • Must possess good time management skills and be flexible
