GIS Analyst II 


The GIS & Serviceability team is pioneering a new capability for WOW!. Our mission is to drive efficiencies across the WOW! Enterprise by introducing map standards and GIS data models that cultivate a credible inventory of all network assets. We will introduce applications that enable a variety of stakeholders to mine the GIS data to support business intelligence insights. This will make it easier to do business with WOW! and grow revenue by making it easier to identify, monetize and support our network assets, in turn creating a better employee and customer experience.



This role acts as a steward of our mission and values by exhibiting intrinsic leadership capabilities including; critical thinking, collaboration, accountability for deliverables and relationship building paired with concise, professional and informative communications. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand business needs and translate them into GIS based capabilities.


 Duties and Responsibilities:


 Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:


Data Development: drive spatial data development for WOW!



  • Lead development of Master Address inventory including data collection, data dictionary, data management and data accessibility.



  • Compile and organize GIS data from maps, databases and other sources

  • Transpose and transform complex data from records maps, CAD drawings, city/county land base maps, network modeling and other source documents into GIS and/or related database

  • Maintains spatial data to reflect current assets and infrastructure for COAX and fiber

  • Ensure data conforms to standards laid out in the GeoDatabase, and related systems

  • Partner with IT to feed Master Address data to downstream systems



Support GIS based Tool Development:



  • Partner with business and vendors to support development of GIS based tools

  • Understand requirements, drive development with vendor, test results, assist in field training and ensure timely deployment.



Create GIS Information Products for Business:



  • Understand and translate the needs of varied users into technical and GIS/IT process requirements

  • Create reports and thematic maps on the data within the GIS;

  • Transposes and transforms complex data from records maps, CAD drawings, city/county land base maps, network modeling and other source documents into GIS and/or related database

  • Maintains spatial data to reflect current assets and infrastructure for COAX and fiber



QA of redrafted map data



  • Spatially QA redrafted map data from vendor

  • Provides technical expertise, consulting, and training related to GIS software and applications, spatial data, GPS technology and uses

Education/Experience:




  • 5 years of experience in developing and maintaining GIS data and other GIS output products including use of ESRI software and related modules

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; willing to substitute relevant education in lieu of work experience requirement



Experience/Skills Needed:



Candidate must foster productive, progressive relationships with stakeholders and GIS users across the Enterprise include: Sales, Marketing, Product, Engineering, Network Operations, Construction, Service Delivery, IT, Real Estate, Finance/Tax, C-Level..



Knowledge & Responsibilities:


The GIS Analyst II will serve several roles including data development, data QA, expanding adoption of GIS through support of tool development and creating information products.



  • Experience identifying and evaluating GIS data sources (e.g. addresses, parcels, rate centers)

  • Experience publishing and consuming web map services. Ability to bring a variety of data into ArcMap, perform analysis, publish the data as a service in ArcGIS Server, and make it available to the enterprise using the service in an ArcGIS Online map or custom application.



  • Experience with ESRI GIS software including the ArcGIS platform and Geodatabase



  • Ability to implement and use reprocessing tools, geospatial analysis and map production tools to support planning and management needs and studies

  • Deliver quality written documentation and presentations, including the ability to make technology understandable to end-users

  • Knowledge of SQL Databases is an asset
