Job Description



Director, Data Management and Business Intelligence



The Director of Data Management and Business Intelligence provides technical leadership for the WOW! Data Management Program, including the selection and implementation of policies and procedures to support data analytics, data governance and master data management. The Director manages a team that designs, builds and delivers complex data extracts, reports and dashboards for internal and external business partners to better determine operational impacts, trends and opportunities.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:




  • Develop implement and maintain data management policies, procedures and best practices

  • Proactively define and interpret data/metrics/KPIs, analyze results, and provide insights to determine operational impact, trends and opportunities

  • Lead a team (onsite and offshore) of analysts, engineers and DBAs in conceptualizing and implementing data extracts, data replication, reports, information dashboards, and other end-user information portals or resources to support the business

  • Provide operational database support for mission critical business and IT systems

  • Provide leadership by setting priorities, assigning work and coaching/mentoring team members, ensuring staff projects and resources meet timelines and budgets

  • Partner with other internal teams, business stakeholders and external vendors to design, develop and deliver various data needs

  • Coordinate development and training of Data Governance processes and support organizational change efforts required to establish Data Governance capabilities

  • Lead the Data Steering Committee to help set the direction of business intelligence, strategies, areas of business focus and prioritizing BI releases

  • Identify and leverage opportunities to continually improve the quality of the data management systems, processes and standards

  • Implement controls and compliance measures as needed for SOX compliance as well as to reduce data issues and improve data quality

  • Monitor, identify, investigate, prioritize, remediate and communicate data quality issues

  • Prioritize and organize effectively and manage multiple projects/assignments involving a high level of coordination among departments and other business units

  • Provide off-hours support for operational/production issues

  • Other duties as assigned

-Education:




  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience


 


-Experience/Skills Needed:




  • 8+ years of leadership experience with a proven track record of successful project management and supervision of analytic/technical roles

  • Previous leadership experience in the telecom industry is preferred

  • 8+ years of data and analytics experience working in a data-intensive field, including data construction of data models, and data visualization

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate complex quantitative analysis in a clear, precise, and actionable manner

  • Demonstrated ability to influence and advocate change at all levels of the company

  • Deep knowledge in data transformation, ETL methodologies and data warehouse/data lake architectures

  • Significant knowledge of designing, developing and utilizing big data tools and frameworks in order to maintain, improve, clean, and manipulate data

  • Experience with end to end design through implementation delivery life cycle working within a Scrum framework

  • Experience in working with outsourced resources and managed services contracts



-Computer Skills:




  • Experience working with reference data and Master Data Management tools

  • Experience working with relational databases and SQL

  • Experience working with analysts in a research/modeling tools such as R, SAS, or SPSS

  • Experience working with Tableau and other data visualization/dashboard tools
