Job Description

The Development Operations Engineer IV supports both network and system environments and is responsible for the deployment and operation of an advanced lab environment that allows for the simulation and testing of voice, data, video and wireless technologies over multiple lab environments. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

●       Responsible for building and maintaining all network and systems devices in an advanced technologies lab

●       Racks, configures and maintains routing and switching equipment

●       Racks, configures and maintains systems resources, including servers and virtual environments

●       Configure and maintain IP addressing on network and systems devices

●       Allocate, monitor and maintain IP addressing for lab components

●       Create and maintain detailed documentation on lab equipment, processes and procedures

●       Assist and enable internal teams with lab testing

●       Creates and maintains security standards and processes for lab access and testing

●       Assists with project planning and scheduling

●       Responsible for assisting on  multiple projects with advanced complexity and ensuring  to milestones and goals and met

●       Responsible for implementing and supporting WOW's products and services

●       Prepares reports on lab environment status for project teams

●       Lead, mentor and guide junior level engineers including reviewing  work

●       Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

●      High School Diploma or GED Required

●      BS in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering preferred or equivalent work experience

 

Experience/Skills Needed:

●      10-15 years’ experience in the telecommunications industry required; including experience with voice, data, video and wireless technologies used in ISP environments

●      Excellent verbal and written communications skills

●      Ability to effectively learn and utilize internal applications

●      Ability to read and create engineering drawings and understand process flow

●      Must be proficient with industry standard databases; create/modify/query, etc.

●      Advanced experience with virtualization environments and cloud technologies

●      Advanced TCP/IP experience

●      Advanced experience with protocol analysis and Wireshark

●      Ability to collaborate effectively with peers

●      Ability to create RFI/RFP, scope of work and needs assessment documentation

●      Mastery of network architecture technologies, concepts and industry standards

●      Proficiency with network and systems engineering principals and practices in all layers of the OSI model

●      Microsoft Applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Word)

●      Google Application Suite (i.e. Doc, Drive, Sheets)

●      Terminal Applications (i.e. SecureCRT, Putty, etc…)

●      Collaboration Applications (i.e. Lucid Chart, Slack, Zoom, etc…)

●      Service NOW Ticket Systems

●      IPAM Applications (Men & Mice, SolarWinds, etc…)

●      Virtualization systems (AWS, VMWare, etc.)

●      Network CLI proficiency (Juniper, Cisco, etc.)

●      DOCSIS systems

●      IP Video systems

●      VOIP systems
