Capacity Planning Engineer IV

In this roll, you will be responsible for planning end-to-end network capacity to ensure performance is optimized. This position is responsible for modeling the entire network using industry standard software, planning strategically given existing and predicted traffic demands, and working with boundary partners to ensure proper monitoring and reporting is being maintained.

What You'll Do:

  • You will capture business requirements and/or presents performance data and network monitoring results to business units and peers.

  • Gather data regarding traffic/capacity/re-occurring problem for long term root cause studies.

  • Identify holes in the present deployment of standard hardware and software-based monitoring solutions.

  • Analyze or oversee analysis of capacity/traffic.

  • Identify capacity-related issues and provides technical solutions relative to business constraints.

  • Identify business opportunities based on network traffic trends and analysis.

  • Prepare capacity/traffic studies for use or review by others.

  • Develop performance & capacity reports/presentations.



  • Bachelor's Degree in a technical or scientific field or equivalent work experience.

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • Minimum of 10+ years' experience working as a capacity analyst role, including significant experience with data modeling, in a company in a relevant industry such as a provider of telecom services, internet services, or datacenter services.

  • Proven leadership and organization skills.

  • Ability to manage the development and implementation of strategic capacity plans.

  • Ability to identify market trends for local, regional, national and international services and identify potential strategies.

  • Strong coordination and multitasking skills; positive, goal-oriented attitude and demeanor to work through roadblocks, motivate internal and external dependencies, and bring about project closure.

  • Ability to work in a dynamic environment both as an individual contributor and member of a multi-functional team.

  • Constantly seeking areas for improvement in the way we do things.

  • Deep understanding with Juniper, Nokia, and Arris systems.

  • Extensive administrative experience with Cisco WAN Automation Engine (Formerly Cariden MATE).

Computer Skills:

  • Experience with programming languages: SQL, Python, Perl, PHP, Javascript, Bash.

  • Experience administering Linux operating systems.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • You will perform computer functions and operate routine office equipment.

  • Perform moderate walking throughout WOW! offices.

  • Sit for extended periods of time.

  • Travel for business purposes on an occasional basis.

  • Physically move and set up various computer equipment as required (50 or more pounds).

  • Be flexible to adjust schedule to cover various shifts.
