Engineer II-Access Transport


 


The Access Transport Engineer II will be responsible for validation of new features/products, process establishment and training on any Access Transport equipment.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:




  • Validate in lab and field testing any new Access Transport feature/tool/product

  • Create and maintain documentation on Access Transport features, tools and products

  • Assist in the creation and maintaining of a Access Transport training program

  • Responsible training of internal teams on Access Transport features, tools and products

  • Work as lead on designated Access Transport projects

  • Provide direct mentoring for Access Transport team members in relation to products and processes

  • Participate in training as required

  • Develop and perform disaster recovery processes

  • Demonstrate/practice current policies and procedures that touch internal and external customers

  • Work closely with other WOW! teams such as Network Engineering and local market Head-end personal

  • Provide on-going Tier 3 support

  • Monitor Access Transport performance and bandwidth utilization, work closely with each system to create and execute upgrade plans in advance of customer impact

  • Maintain external security of Access Transport platform by utilizing tools and features to protect WOW! from unauthorized Access Transport access

  • Excellent written, oral communications skills

Education/Experience:




  • Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent in experience

  • Candidates must have experience with technologies such as optical transport, photonic layer design, CWDM, DWDM, Next-Gen DWDM and 100G

  • Experience with scripting and automation

  • Knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols and network routing. TCP/IP and OSI model.

  • Proficiency of the following platforms:


    • Cisco ONS15454 M6/M12 MSTP

    • Ciena





Computer Skills:




  • Excel, Word, PowerPoint

  • Visio
