Job Description

The Reporting Engineer III leads efforts to gather and analyze data as well as develop, maintain, modify and improve complex reporting solutions. This position takes a lead role in supporting enterprise-wide reporting systems and will provide mentorship to other staff, make recommendations based on data analysis, and provide explanations for reporting results.

What you'll be doing:

Crucial responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Work closely with multiple functional groups within the organization to examine and detail business models and flows of data, objectives and requirements for sophisticated reporting solutions.

  • Develop queries and build new ad-hoc or standard reports or modify existing reports to extract sophisticated datasets and metrics from multiple databases.

  • Assess reporting results and provide written analysis and summarize results.

  • Maintain data integrity and ongoing quality control of delivered reports through testing and validation to ensure they function per the requirements' specification.

  • Utilize Business Intelligence tools to build and support dashboards.

  • Leads and provides mentorship to support efforts for reporting platforms as well as upgrades to the platforms or to resolve issues with the platforms.

  • Responsible for communicating with project manager, team members and business groups on issues and the status of work planned and completed.

  • Provide mentorship to more junior engineers and peers by reviewing work and providing recommendations for design, coding or testing approach, including conducting or participating in code walkthroughs or other methods to ensure report quality.

  • Function as a technical lead for small reporting projects or components of larger projects.

  • Perform detailed data analysis to determine the structure, content, and quality of the data and trends through examination of source systems and data samples.

  • Assess reporting results through data investigation, analysis, and evaluation and creates documentation supporting all of the reports.

  • Other duties as assigned

Experience/Skills Needed:

  • 8+ years of data analytics experience building maintainable, standardized reports and dashboards including analyzing large data sets, data mining and providing consultation to partners.

  • proven ability with SQL and/or Oracle to perform data manipulation and analysis using report writing tools (Crystal Reports / Business Objects, Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio and Reporting Services (SSRS), etc).

  • 3+ years of cable/telecommunication experience preferred.

  • Proficient developing and troubleshooting stored procedures and knowledgeable of query optimization techniques.

  • Experience with BI tools (Tableau, Jaspersoft, etc.) and building dashboards.

  • Understanding of version control and change management processes.

  • Experience with software development methodologies (Waterfall, Agile).

  • Experience with AWS (Snowflake and RDS) preferred.

  • Must be comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations.

  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.




Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification or related experience.




Digital Literacy:

Fundamental knowledge of standard desktop business applications and tools.

The minimum base pay salary for this position is $95,000. Salary may be negotiable based on experience. The minimum salary does not include any other pay elements in which this position may be eligible.
