Payroll Specialist

 


This position provides administrative, clerical, and processing support to the Payroll Supervisor and Director of Payroll Operations. Works closely with other Payroll Team members. Works with other WOW! team members in other areas concerning payroll and payroll processing.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:



  • Performs daily payroll department operations

  • Processes new hires and terminations on a daily basis

  • Executes timecards and attendance processing that interface with payroll

  • Processes bi-weekly payroll for specific markets as assigned

  • Reconciles payroll prior to transmission and validates reports

  • Manages workflow to ensure all payroll transactions are processed accurately and timely

  • Assists with processing garnishments, child support orders, and federal and state tax levies

  • Understands and processes proper taxation of employer paid benefits

  • Responds in a timely manner to employee payroll inquiries

  • Responds to and answers verifications of employment

  • Develops ad hoc financial reports as needed

  • Maintains employee paperless payroll files

  • Processes password resets for ADP as needed

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:




  • High school diploma or equivalent required



Experience/Skills Needed:




  • Minimum 3 experience processing multi-state payroll

  • Minimum 2 years' experience processing garnishments, wage and tax levies, bankruptcies, and child support orders

  • Ability to maintain the confidentiality of payroll records

  • Demonstrated knowledge of payroll taxing and compliance with federal and state regulations

  • Must possess a strong work ethic with a high degree of professionalism

  • Maintains excellent attendance

  • Must be capable of working in a self-directed fashion when necessary and able to set priorities within a given workload to meet deadlines

  • Strong organization skills are required, with demonstrated ability to effectively handle multiple priorities and tasks

  • Excellent interpersonal skills are required to establish effective working relationships

  • Must possess strong communication skills (both verbal and written)

  • Must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of employees, sometimes conveying technical information to non-technical employees

  • Must have strong mathematical skills

  • Must be able to perform computer functions and operate routine office equipment.

  • Maintains sense of urgency and consistently meets deadlines on assigned projects and duties



Computer Skills:




  • Strong working knowledge of MS office, including Excel, Word, and Google Suite

  • General knowledge of payroll software

  • ADP, EV5, E-Time and/or Workday experience a plus but not required
