Manager, IT Quality Assurance


 


The IT QA Manager is responsible for strategic planning and day-to-day oversight of Software Quality Assurance and QA Automation.



Duties and Responsibilities:



Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:




  • Manage a team of Quality Assurance Testers, including full-time employees and contractors who are both onshore and offshore, and provide leadership and guidance to coach, motivate, and lead team members to optimum performance levels and career development

  • Assign and monitor work of QA testers

  • Establish and maintain standard processes, procedures to ensure changes to IT software meets business need

  • Develop processes and documentation for the Quality Assurance Tester role within the project lifecycle

  • Assesses new IT software projects and initiatives to support, enhance, and improve the efficiency of the business and provides recommendations

  • Manage staffing and services scopes of work from testing vendors

  • Serve as a liaison and facilitator with the business units to assist in addressing and resolving IT software issues while providing assistance and advice to business users in the effective use of applications and technology

  • Troubleshoot and manage issues lists, scorecards and executive communications pertaining to quality of deployed application systems as well as those under development

  • Work closely with the Application Development managers on current production system defects, changes or upgrades to resolve problems and improve processes or systems

  • Investigate and resolve application functionality related issues and provide assistance with troubleshooting

  • Other duties as assigned

Education:




  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent certification or related experience within multiple tiers of an IT organization



Experience/Skills Needed:




  • 6 years minimum experience working in software delivery

  • 3 years minimum experience in a management/supervisory position.

  • Must be comfortable in rapidly changing and sometimes ambiguous work situations

  • Keen attention to detail and complex problem-solving abilities from an operational and technical perspective

  • Ability and flexibility to manage both onshore and offshore resources

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, attention to detail, and a results driven approach

  • Experience with multiple SDLC methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid Waterfall/Agile)

  • Deep understanding of industry standard software testing tools (i.e. Selenium, Serenity, etc.), quality assurance methodologies and standards

  • Extensive experience with full software testing automation, including Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment/Delivery, DevOps, UI/UX (web, mobile), API/services, and database level validation automation

  • Ability to consume functional and non-functional requirements and ensure complete test coverage

  • Experience developing testing scorecards effectively and efficiently communicating test status at different levels of the organization (i.e. from executive to individual contributor)

  • Ability to lead test strategy, test plan, and test case compilation, ensuring that testing artifacts are complete, consistent, comprehensible, traceable, and feasible, that they conform to standards, and that they provide complete coverage including positive, negative, functional, non-functional, performance, load, and security testing

  • Ability to lead peer reviews and inspections of test strategy, test plan, and test case documents

  • Must be able to define quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional testing requirements

  • Must have strong interpersonal skills, the ability to help negotiate priorities, and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, and engineering)

  • Experience with JIRA and Zephyr a plus



Computer Skills:



Fundamental knowledge of standard desktop business applications and tools
