The GIS & Serviceability team is pioneering a new capability for WOW!. Our mission is to drive efficiencies across the WOW! Enterprise by introducing map standards and GIS data models that cultivate a credible inventory of all network assets. We will introduce applications that enable a variety of stakeholders to mine the GIS data to support business intelligence insights. This will make it easier to do business with WOW! and grow revenue by making it easier to identify, monetize and support our network assets, in turn creating a better employee and customer experience.

This role acts as a steward of our mission and values by exhibiting intrinsic leadership capabilities including; critical thinking, collaboration, accountability for deliverables and relationship building paired with concise, professional and informative communications. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to understand business needs and translate them into GIS based capabilities.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to those listed below:

  • Transposes and transforms complex data from records maps, CAD drawings, city/county land base maps, network modeling and other source documents into GIS and/or related database

  • Maintains spatial data to reflect current assets and infrastructure for COAX and fiber

  • Assignments are broad in nature requiring creativity and ingenuity

  • Advanced ability to implement and use geoprocessing tools, geospatial analysis and map production tools to support planning and management needs and studies

  • Works under minimal supervision

  • Responsible for defining technical approaches to GIS projects

  • Provides technical expertise, consulting, and training related to GIS software and applications, spatial data, GPS technology and uses

  • Work is stated in terms of objectives requiring project planning and judgment to accomplish work This position requires the applicant to be focused, goal driven, accountable, and exhibit significant attention to detail. Applicant must be a team player who can motivate team members and cross resource to accomplish the common goal. Must be able to work under pressure, along with demonstrating solid time management skills and demonstrate a winning attitude

  • 7+ years' experience

  • Bachelor's degree in GIS, Computer Science, Information Technology or related field; willing to substitute relevant education in lieu of work experience requirement

  • Maintains or advances and maintains previous certifications

Experience/Skills Needed:

The GIS Analyst III is our go-to storyteller with GIS data. Candidate will pioneer expanded use of the GIS capabilities by creating story maps that leverage GIS data to provide business intelligence for the WOW! Enterprise including, but not limited to: Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Network Operations, Construction, Service Delivery, Real Estate, Finance/Tax, C-Level.

  • Experience publishing and consuming web map services. Ability to bring a variety of data into ArcMap, perform analysis, publish the data as a service in ArcGIS Server, and make it available to the enterprise using the service in an ArcGIS Online map or custom application.

  • May function as a Team Lead and direct staff on work tasks and or project assignments

  • Demonstrates knowledge of GIS principles and techniques of business requirements and application development

  • Experience with ESRI GIS software including the ArcGIS platform and Geodatabase

  • Experience with geographic coordinates systems

  • Advanced experience of ESRI GIS software including the ArcGIS platform, Geodatabase, and ArcGIS Server

  • Advanced experience of RDBMS (Oracle, MS SQL Server, etc.) skills including development skills

  • Demonstrates concepts and procedures in one of the IT disciplines (i.e. networking, database administration, systems or applications support, GIS or project management)

  • Deliver quality written documentation and presentations, including the ability to make technology understandable to end-users

  • Understand and translate the needs of varied users into technical and GIS/IT process requirements

Ability to:

  • Create dashboards for the business

  • Create story maps based on business requests

  • Be approachable and demonstrate interpersonal skills while maintaining focus on tasks at hand

  • Demonstrate critical thinking ability

  • Work in a team environment that provides the capacity for GIS/IT project and service delivery

  • Perform as a Project Manager in multiple GIS application and spatial data collection projects
